One Direction's manager Simon Cowell has finally opened up about the recent news regarding band member Louis Tomlinson and his impending fatherhood. Tomlinson is said to be expecting a baby with LA-based syslist Briana Jungwirth.
Cowell, in an interview with The Sun, said that he told Tomlinson to man up about the pregnancy.
"I said to him, 'You man up. You're fortunate because you're in a position to be able to look after the baby and not worry too much about that," Cowell said. "But I also told him, 'I've received bad calls in my life but this is not one of them. This is your business but I'm here for you."
The 55-year old television judge and music mentor, who admits he has been through many bad calls in his life, pointed out that unlike other young fathers-to-be of the same age, Tomlinson is actually in a privileged position to being able to take care for a new family.
On Cowell's take about other people judging Tomlinson's baby news as bad, controversial, newsworthy and some were even insisting that babies aren't conceived that quick, he said that Tomlinson becoming a father and having a baby is "a plus, not a negative".
"He didn't kill anyone. He got someone pregnant. It happens every day all over the world. Again, Louis has got great family around him, look, it's a plus, not a negative.", Cowell said.
During his ongoing interview with The Sun, where he talked about his painful nine-month struggle as he watched his mom Julie die, Cowell also confirmed in another Sun exclusive that One Direction are planning to take some time off next year after the release of their fifth album.
"In terms of the band, they've got enough hits now that can take some time off and do some other stuff they want to do," Cowell said. "Then I hope they'll have a little bit of time apart and want to get back together again. It's a fun job, but it's absolutely their decision."
