AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd was arrested in his home in New Zealand's North Island for the second time on Saturday, July 18, just 10 days after he was sentenced to home detention for threatening to kill a man who had previously worked for him, according to reports.
On Sunday, the 65-year old Australian-born drummer was again brought to jail, but the police authorities have declined to give further details about Rudd's arrest.
However, Craig Tuck, Rudd's personal lawyer, confirmed via email on Sunday that after Rudd's arrest, he is set to arrive in court on Monday to apply for bail. The lawyer also added that he and Rudd talked for an hour in the police station, where Rudd was detained.
Tuck told the Associated Press that Rudd was arrested and brought to the Tauranga District Court after being charged of breaching his home detention conditions by possessing and consuming alcohol.
Phil Rudd has been released on bail after his weekend arrest and is set to appear in court on August 3 to enter a plea, Tuck added.
Prior to Rudd's current arrest, he was previously held to up to eight months of home confinement on July 9, after he was found guilty threatening a man who happened to be his former worker, and illegal possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.
Reports added that Rudd had offered a cash, vehicles and a house to an assistant after he asked him to have the man 'taken out'. He had also directly told the victim that he would kill him.
Though the prosecutors had charged Rudd with 'murder-for-hire,' the charge was later dropped by the court due to the lack of evidence.
During the sentence hearing, court Judge Thoma Ingram told Rudd that he would be held in prison if he fails to follow the terms under his home confinement, which also banned the drummer from any nonprescription drugs and put him under strict monitoring.
"I stone-cold guarantee that's where you'll end up" Ingram told Rudd during the hearing. "I'm not your headmaster, I'm not your father - I'm a judge."
While AC/DC has not yet talked about officially pulling Rudd out of the band, which he has been a part of for about four decades, AC/DC currently drafted Welsh drummer Chris Slade as Rudd's temporary replacement for the band's 'Rock or Bust' album tour.
