Although there are fast food chains, most notably In 'n Out Burger, that have notorious "secret" menus, the McDonald's secret menu is mostly completely hidden from the public, although a manager in Scotland has recently revealed some of the special burgers customers can actually get that aren't on the visible menus!
A Reddit user that has identified herself as a McDonald's manager for the past 3 years, recently opened an "Ask Me Anything" thread, and among the interesting questions asked, someone dared to wonder whether the McDonald's secret menu was real or just a pop culture invention - and the user confirmed it!
According to The Independent, the McDonald's secret menu may not be necessarily known by name by employees, and it wasn't actually created by the fast food chain but rather by employees who thought up different hacks to the usual burgers and menu items.
"You can order from the 'Secret Menu'. Just like with any of our sandwiches, you can add, remove or change ingredients by special request," redditor Orchidhibiscus explained. "These are called 'grill orders' (i.e. Big Mac no pickle) The items on the 'secret menu' weren't invented by anyone officially at McDonald's, it's just a random persons guide to burgers you could potentially 'hack' at McDonald's."
Among the McDonald's secret menu items, patrons can find the strangely named McGangBang, which consists of a McChicken sandwich right between two Cheeseburgers, and this is seemingly one of the most popular items on the secret menu, alongside a few other interesting ones.
Metro reports that other items in the McDonald's secret menu include the McBrunch (which mixes the breakfast and lunch options), the Land, Sea and Air Burger (with a beef, Filet-O-Fish and McChicken patties to represent the three elements), the McGrilled Cheese (just buns and cheese) and the Neopolitan Shake (with three flavors: chocolate, strawberry and vanilla).
According to The Mirror, besides the McDonald's secret menu, other revelations at the AMA were that the "healthier" options aren't really that good, though the meat was good and freshly grilled.
