Cortana on Android has just been leaked on the internet. Few months ago, Microsoft announced that the personal assistant will be making its way to Android and iOS. The personal assistant was supposed to come to Android later this month, however, it has just been leaked and it is functional.
Just like the Windows 10 version, Cortana on Android comes with all the features which are available on Windows 10. You can set reminders, check for weather, sport results, ask Cortana to tell you some jokes, etc. The entire interface looks like a miniature version of Cortana for Windows 10, with a dark theme mixed with the white area for content. You can use your voice to search or enter queries in text, and Cortana is accessed just like any regular Android app.
One feature that's missing from the Windows version is the ability to say "Hey Cortana" to activate the assistant. Some features like asking Cortana to send messages to contacts appear to be a little unfinished, but location-based reminders appear to work as they should.
The Microsoft Cortana version released seems to be the BETA version but it's already working good according to those who have already tried it. The version actually is said to be working better than on Windows 10 as per Finland Mobile who tested the app recently. The software giant hasn't announced or responded anything related to this leak yet but we can expect the Cortana app for Android to still be released on the original schedule set by the Microsoft.
Ars Technica also reports a few other gaps in the current Cortana beta, compared to its capabilities on Windows devices. Cortana for Android can't yet read emails, screen calls during certain times, or pick up that music is being played. It remains to be seen whether this sort of deep integration will be possible with the final version of Cortana for Android.
