Jared Leto Gives Live Rat to Margot Robbie and Other Gifts To Suicide Squad Co-stars

Margot Robbie,  the 24-year-old star of the upcoming Suicide Squad, is the proud mama of a pet rat, and it's all thanks to Jared Leto. Leto, who plays the Joker in the film, gave all his co-stars a gift before shooting to help him "get into character." Robbie was lucky enough to receive "a nice love letter with a black box with a [live] rat in it."

Robbie, who plays Harley Quinn in the upcoming flick, admitted that crew members suggested killing it, but she couldn't part from the animal, whom she's since named Rat Rat. "If Harley got something from Joker, she'd probably cherish it," Robbie told the magazine, adding that she feeds Rat Rat organic berries from Whole Foods.

Fellow star Adam Beach revealed to E! News: "He sent [Margot Robbie] a nice love letter with a black box with a rat in it - a live rat. "It was beautiful. Then he sent bullets to Will [Smith] with a letter." The cast even received a "dead hog" and an unnerving video filmed in character, proving to them that the star is the "real" deal despite not being around a lot earlier on in production.

Adam - who plays Slipknot - added: "Basically, what he said was, 'Guys, I can't be there but I want you to know I'm doing my work as hard as you guys'.
