Processed foods has already been a part of this society that the human race has quite accepted as source of nourishment to their bodies. Little does everybody really know the consequences that it could do their health.
Partly perhaps to blame is that the access to the pure and organic food is expensive? Megan Kimble found a solution to it, since she experienced not eating any processed food at all for a whole year despite only making $16,780 a year.
It was a challenge for her that she ended up documenting it on her book called "Unprocessed" according to TIME. Kimble is a student and with a low income like that, she learned a lot of affordable ways on how to eat healthier without the usual processed foods. She said that the moment she decided to continue with it, she then eventually made new habits that everything just became automatic to her.
Kimble doesn't suggest or recommend that people who want to let go of processed foods and other junk foods should go cold turkey. It is really not advisable and besides doing it gradually is more effective. She told the magazine some of her secrets like reading the ingredients on the label first before buying the product. If you can't even pronounce the ingredients, it is a good sign for you to just return it on its shelf.
Purchase foods that have only a single ingredient like honey and fruits. These items are unlikely to have preservatives. Make your own version of the comfort foods that you can't seem to live without eating them. Make sure that it is free from artificial preservatives as well. Buy your food in bulk. Purchasing in retail often cost more than just buying them in bulk. If you are traveling and you are taking food with you, make sure that you plan this ahead of time.
