After months worth of scandal surrounding the Duggar family in 2015, TLC has finally canceled the show that made them famous, "19 Kids and Counting," where they exposed their daily lives with 19 children in the family - and now, the Duggars are officially speaking out about being left off air.
In a fairly gracious statement, the Duggar family's 2015 words mostly just talk about what a huge deal it was for them to star in the TLC show, even if they have been surrounded by controversy in the past few months, after it was discovered that Josh, their oldest child, had molested a few younger girls (including some of his sisters) during his teens.
"It is our prayer that the painful situation our family went through many years ago can point people toward faith in God and help others who also have lived through similar dark situations to find help, hope and healing, as well," reads the Duggar family's 2015 statement through their official website. "We appreciate the love, support, prayers and kindness extended to us by many of you. You have deeply touched our hearts and encouraged us, during this time."
According to USA Today, the decision to cancel Duggar family's 2015 show came last Thursday, when the channel revealed they'd parted ways with the hugely popular show after months worth of scandal, when the story became public during the spring.
The Washington Post reports that the last season of "19 Kids and Counting" concluded on May 19 to good ratings amid the scandal, and only two days later, Josh apologized for his behavior.
On May 22, TLC announced they would be pulling the show (and its re-runs) indefinitely from the network, while they decided whether it was appropriate to continue their alliance with the family during the scandal.
In its recent statement, TLC said the Duggar family's 2015 scandal had "sparked a critical and important conversation about child protection."
