Rejoice X-Files fans! Ever since the news broke back in March that Fox was bringing back the classic science fiction series for a six episode 'event series', many held their breath for the return of agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Well today, the network finally gave us a first glimpse at David Duchnovy and Gillian Anderson back in their iconic roles.
The short teaser, which clocks in at just 15 seconds, obviously doesn't reveal much.
It begins with a group of soldiers walking towards what looks like a crash site of some sort, then quickly cuts to a series of shots featuring warehouse doors opening, a surgical tool of some sort, and a poster with the words "I WANT TO BELIEVE" on it. The teaser ends with the moment fans have been waiting more than 10 years for, Mulder and Scully back in action before cutting to the title card and iconic theme music!
The show, which was created by Chris Carter, aired from 1993 to 2002. It was a massive critical and commercial success. The story centred on two FBI agents who specialized in paranormal activities: Fox Mulder (Duchovny), the conspiracy theorist, and the more grounded and realistic Dana Scully (Anderson).
The X-Files was not only a seminal show for both the studio and the network, it was a worldwide phenomenon that shaped pop culture yet remained a true gem for the legions of fans who embraced it from the beginning," said Fox Chairmen and CEOs of Fox Television Group Dana Walden and Gary Newman back in March. "Few shows on television have drawn such dedicated fans as The X-Files, and we're ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they've been waiting for."
The new X-Files series kicks off in January 2016.
