Wonder Woman Writer Unhappy with Batman V. Superman's Take on the Character

The internet is still buzzing over Batman v. Superman's first trailer which was revealed at the 2015 San Diego Comic Con last weekend. The short glimpse at the film gave us our first concrete look at Gal Gadot in the role of the iconic super heroine and it seems the reaction has been mostly positive. However some doubters still remain.

One such skeptic is acclaimed comic book writer Grant Morrison who, during an interview with The Nerdist, recently voiced his disagreement over the direction the film is taking with its portrayal of the character.

Morrison is no stranger to the DC universe, having written numerous titles for the likes of Superman, Batman, and The Justice League over the course of his storied career. He's currently working on a new Wonder Woman series called Wonder Woman: Earth One. Here's how he wants his heroine to differ from Zack Snyder's film interpretation:

"I don't want to do this warrior woman thing." I can understand why they're doing it, I get all that, but that's not what [Wonder Woman creator] William Marston wanted, that's not what he wanted at all! His original concept for Wonder Woman was an answer to comics that he thought were filled with images of blood-curdling masculinity, and you see the latest shots of Gal Gadot in the costume, and it's all sword and shield and her snarling at the camera. Marston's Diana was a doctor, a healer, a scientist. So I went back to those roots and just built it up again.

Morrison's comic will focus less on Diana as merely a warrior but explore the dynamics of having an ancient and highly advanced society of women:

for the first 48 pages, there are no men - it's just women talking to each other. And then halfway through the book, we're building up to this big fight, and then I thought, "No, I'm not." This book isn't about fights, there's not going to be any fights. So we threw out the rules of traditional boy's adventure fiction. It's the most exciting book I've done in years, it changed everything I'm thinking about the future
