Click here to watch: Felix Baumgartner Jump Video on YouTube, Recorded Video of Freefall from Space
Watch the RedBull Stratos live stream, as Felix Baugartner leaps from 120,000 feet to skydive from the edge of space back down to earth. He will attempt to break the highest skydive record, currently held by Joe Kittinger at 102,800 ft back in 1960.
RedBull Stratos is both a scientific and record-breaking venture, that will aim to send Baugartner down to earth at supersonic speeds. It aims to smash four records in this mission:
1. First to Reach Supersonic Speed in Freefall: First person to break the speed of sound and achieve Mach 1 in freefall, estimated 690 mph, with further acceleration possible.
2. Freefall from Highest Altitude: Expected jump from 120,000 ft.
3. Longest Freefall Time: Expected freefall of 5 minutes, 35 seconds or more.
4. Highest Manned Balloon Flight: Expected ascent to 120,000 ft.
On the missions website, an update states that "Wind conditions improved. 30 million cf balloon is being laid out. Felix Baumgartner's suit up procedure is complete. Launch @ 11:15 MDT."
That is 1:15 p.m. EDT.
