Another Oscar for Jennifer Lawrence? See the Trailer of Her New Film 'Joy' w/ Bradley Cooper

Jennifer Lawrence is on a roll. After dominating Comic-Con with her promotional appearances for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 and X-Men: Apocalypse, the 24 year old actress just reminded everyone that she's capable of more than just big budget franchises.

20th Century Fox just released the first trailer for Joy the latest film from Director David O. Russell. The movie features Russell's frequent collaborators Lawrence and actor Bradley Cooper, who he has previously worked with on Silver Linings Playbook (where Lawrence won the Academy Award for Best Actress) and American Hustle. Lawrence plays the title role of Joy Mangano, an inventor who goes from rags to riches after conceptualizing the 'Miracle Mop'.

"I wanted to do an epic, unexpected story about the interior life of one woman's soul, from the ages of 10 to 40," says Russell of the movie. It's my first film that really has the woman as the star," he says. "What's it like to become a boss and the godmother of a family and dynasty, both emotionally and commercially? You go inside that person's soul, and it's alternately hilarious, horrifying, and sort of joyous. Relationships are always complex, and nobody gets to success without breaking some of their own bones-and other people's, too."

The trailer shows snippets of Joy conceptualizing the device. We see Joy looking at the hair on a toy doll's head and begin sketching blue prints of the eventual contraption. The film will focus on Joy's rise from struggling single mother to a fiery take-no-prisoners business woman.

Cooper is set to play a Home TV shopping executive who takes an interest in Joy and her creation. While Robert De Niro (who was also in Silver Linings) will play Joy's father. Edgar Ramirez, Virginia Madsen, and Isabella Rosellini round out the cast.

With the final Hunger Games film set to hit theatres this November and Joy following a month later on Christmas Day, it looks like Lawrence is set to dominate the holiday season.
