Emma Stone is Addicted to Korean Pop

Promoting her new movie, 'Irrational Man', Emma Stone appeared in the Conan late night show with Conan O'Brien.  Among the tidbits she shared was her addiction to K-Pop, which she explained to be Korean Pop - an Asian music genre and sub-culture.

Her favorite K-Pop is the all-girl group, 2NE1, with their song 'I Am the Best'.

In the same show, she narrated how she explained to her 'Irrational Man' director, Woody Allen, the rationale and mechanics behind Twitter.

Emma Stone's real name is Emily Jean Stone, but there was already another actor registered in the Screen Actors Guild as Emily Stone so she chose Emma, a nickname given by her mother. She debuted in the 2007 comedy, "Superbad'. She was propelled to superstar fame as the love interest of the spider guy in the 'Amazing Spiderman' films in 2012 and 2014.  Incidentally, since 2011, she has been dating her spider guy, Andrew Garfield.  She has also appeared in Broadway musicals. Since her mother was diagnosed with cancer, Stone has been an active lobbyist, working with other groups, to fight the Big C.

K-Pop originated in South Korea in 1992.  It refers to their kind of music which included dance pop, pop ballad, hip-hop and R&B.  It has also been described as synthesized music with sharp dance routines and fashionable, colorful outfits. The fad became more than just a music element, as Koreans embraced the culture in their way of living, particularly in their fashion.

Stone's favorite group, 2NE1 is an all-girl group with CL, Minzy, Dara and Park Bom. Their song, 'I Am the Best' won Song of the Year in the 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

Stone is starring in Woody Allen's mystery-drama, 'The Irrational Man'. She co-stars with Jamie Blackley, Joaquin Phoenix and Parker Posey.  It will hit theatres on Friday, July 17, 2015.
