Paul Feig's "Ghostbusters" remake has been making headlines quite recently. But new reports have surfaced that a cast member from the original film will be making a cameo in the reboot.

This has lead to speculations that the new film might have a connection with its predecessor. On Tuesday, Dan Aykroyd - one of the original ghost exterminators of the Ivan Reitman comedy -- announced his cameo in the new "Ghostbusters" film via Twitter.
"On GB set shooting my scene with funny beautiful Kristen Wiig Lady GB's are adorable, hilarious and badass Exhilarating! #ghostbusters," Aykroyd tweeted.

Unfortunately, Dan Aykroyd deleted the tweet just two hours after posting it. Most probably under orders of the studio though, to keep all the "Ghostbusters" details under wraps.
On the other hand, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed with Dan's reps that he is indeed included in the remake.

It's refreshing to see that Paul Feig has included a cast member from the 1984 film in the reboot. As the publication puts it, "his involvement is a classy passing of the torch."
The new "Ghostbusters" film has many differences from the previous one. Unlike the first film where the exterminators comprised of men, the reboot stars leading ladies Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon.

Back in April, original cast member Ernie Hudson has also expressed his intent to be involved in the new film. However, no reports have yet to confirm if he'll actually be in the film.

Paul Feig's "Ghostbusters" also features some notable actors: "Thor" actor Chris Hemsworth, "12 Years A Slave" actor Michael K. Williams, and "The Godfather" star Andy Garcia.
No claims have yet surfaced on what role Dan Aykroyd will be playing in "Ghostbusters" and perhaps fans will have to wait and see when the film hits theatres on July 22, 2016.
