After months of rumors of Idris Elba's "Star Trek" casting - with Scotty actor Simon Pegg seemingly talking nonstop about his fellow Brit -, his appearance on the third installment of the series, "Star Trek Beyond," has been officially confirmed, in the most Elba-like hilarious way!
The charity Omaze has been a part of a few movements on upcoming big movies, including a competition to win a walk-on role on J.J. Abrams' highly anticipated "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens," and it was through one of its videos that Idris Elba's "Star Trek" appearance was confirmed, when the "Thor" actor did some break dancing on the film's set!
According to Empire Online, Idris Elba's "Star Trek" breakdancing calls for the same prize as the "Star Wars" one, which is to say, "boldly go behind the scenes" and appear in a walk-in role in the upcoming film, currently shooting and set for a summer 2016 release.
The fee to enter the competition is $10, which will be going to nine different charities selected by the film's main actors.
The Independent reports that Idris Elba's "Star Trek" confirmation came as he was caught shooting the breakdancing video alongside the main cast including Chris Pine (Captain Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Mr. Spock), Zoe Saldana (Uhura) Pegg (Scotty), John Cho (Sulu), Anton Yelchin (Chekov) and Karl Urban (Bones).
There's still no confirmation as to what will be Idris Elba's "Star Trek" role, but rumors have been going around for months that he'll be playing a Klingon, the race of aliens the United Federation of Planets is often in conflict with.
Elba is rumored to be about to appear everywhere these days, as it's also been said he's up for the role of James Bond in what would be the first black actor to play the English superspy.
As USA Today reports, unsurprisingly enough, Idris Elba's "Star Trek" breakdance has gone viral - and you can watch it below!
