‘The Bachelorette’ ‘s Cast-Off, Ben Higgins, Stars in ‘The Bachelor’

The 6'4 dark-haired hunk may have lost out in the heart of Kaitlyn Bristowe of 'The Bachelorette', but he is getting a second chance as the new leading man in 'The Bachelor', announced ABC.

Ben Higgins went only as far as third place, with Shawn Booth and Nick Viall still in the running to win this dating show. His departure surprised many since Bristowe confessed she was falling in love with Higgins.

The reality TV star is 26 years old, a software salesman. After he left 'The Bachelorette', fans and even former stars of the show went on social media praising him and lobbying for him to be the next bachelor. Apparently, ABC does listen to its viewers and cast Higgins in 'The Bachelor'.

While he may have fans, there are other reactions to this latest twist in reality TV. Some are not convinced he qualifies as the next bachelor. They say they want the bachelor to be more mature, and more inclined towards marriage. Higgins was once quoted saying that marriage is a total sacrifice. It remains to be seen if he, indeed, will go towards that mark. 'The Bachelor' has had 29 match-ups, and all 24 resulted to failed relationships.

Some viewers of 'The Bachelorette' who have already seen Higgins in action refer to him as a quiet, and well, boring guy. The challenge is out there for him to disprove that he has the making of a reality TV super star.

'The Bachelor" was launched in March 2002. It has won a Teen Choice award and a Young Hollywood award. It is reality TV love, where one man, the bachelor, chooses one woman from a group of many. The bachelor goes out on group dates or individual dates with them, and every week, he gives them one rose each for those he still wants to remain. The unlucky girl without a rose goes home. 'The Bachelor' is on its 9th season, while its counterpart, 'The Bachelorette "is on its 11th. It is a dating show at its best.
