Teenage Girl Survives Plane Crash with Minor Injuries

Their small airplane left Kalispell, Montana on Saturday afternoon, but never made it to Lynden, Washington State. Worried family members alerted authorities and a search was called for the plane crash.

Two days after the plane crash, one of its passengers, 16-year old Autumn Veatch walks out of the mountainous woods and is picked up along the highway. He drops him off in a general store where a 911 call was made and medical rescue made, as reported in Fox News.

Unfortunately, her co-passengers, her step-grandparents, Leland and Sharon Bowman of Montana have not yet been found. Wreckage of the plane crash is also being searched.

The incident is hailed as a miracle by rescuers, citing the presence of mind of the teenager. As narrated to her father, their Beech A-35 light plane flew into a bank of clouds, caught fire and crashed. Veatch stayed with the wreckage for a day, and decided to hike down to get help. She followed the drainage pipes, and came upon rivers and lakes until she got to a bridge. She followed the trail to Highway 20 and was given a ride by a passing motorist. She was walking for two days since the plane crash.

She was given medical attention, but declared in relatively good health despite some minor injuries and dehydration. she was kept overnight in the hospital for monitoring.

Veatch is a resident and native of Bellingham, Washington State, and a student at Sehome High School. she works in wildlife rescue, which could have accounted for her survival skills while in the mountainous area. She is also an award-winning photographer.

Early this year, a 7-year old girl survived a plane crash which killed four other people. The plane crash happened in Kentucky. The girl got herself out of the wreckage and walked to a nearby residence to ask for help.
