The time is closing in for the December release of "The Force Awakens," the third trilogy based on George Lucas' universe from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, and as fans would expect, the "Star Wars" SDCC 2015 panel was a geek's dream.
Although the biggest highlight of the "Star Wars" SDCC 2015 panel was, without a doubt, the reel showing the actors behind the scenes for the film, but the panel was filled with incredible moments, including how the original trio, namely Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, were reunited for the first time after Ford's near-fatal airplane accident.
The Verge cites six different amazing moments from the "Star Wars" SDCC 2015 panel, including Simon Pegg's small cameo in the previously unseen footage (where he says his life is now complete, after having been a part of both "Star Trek" and "Star Wars") and the revelation that there won't be a new "Force Awakens" trailer until the next fall.
Other major "Star Wars" SDCC 2015 revelations included the revelation of the new TIE fighter (which is now red), the revelation that three of the biggest new actors ("Girls" star Adam Driver, "Game of Thrones" actress Gwendoline Christie and "Harry Potter" and "Ex Machina" actor Domhnall Gleeson) will be on the Dark Side of the Force.
According to The Guardian, another incredible moment from the "Star Wars" SDCC 2015 panel was Ford's entrance into the venue, his first Comic-Con appearance after nearly dying in an airplane crash last fall - the iconic "Indiana Jones" and "Blade Runner" actor received a standing ovation from fans, who screamed at his triumphant return to the convention.
"I never thought it would come back to bless me instead of haunt me," Ford told attendees. "I was very gratified when I read the script, because I read something that I thought was really remarkable. Well-written, with some intriguing developments. So I was delighted to be involved."
CNET reports another odd new revelation: there are new Twitter "Star Wars" emojis! There's one lightsaber one (#saber), one of Christie's character Captain Phasma (#Phasma) and Driver's Kylo Ren (#KyloRen).
As previously thought, the "Star Wars" SDCC 2015 panel was a day to remember for sci-fi fans!
