The end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Two will come with the release of "Ant-Man," and so the first films of the Phase Three are already being prepared, with most of the Marvel cast currently shooting "Captain America: Civil War," including Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Scarlett Johansson and the recently cast Tom Holland - so now it's time for the cast of the "Doctor Strange" movie to step up!
Very little is currently known about the 2016 "Doctor Strange" movie, besides the fact that Oscar nominee Benedict Cumberbatch is set to star with Chiwetel Ejiofor and Tilda Swinton also rumored for roles - but it seems "True Detective" star Rachel McAdams could be in the film as well.
According to Los Angeles Times' Heroic Hollywood, "Doctor Strange" movie rumors have it that McAdams has been offered the female lead in the film, though nothing has confirmed as of yet - with Marvel being famously secretive about their casting choices until everything's settled.
Movie Pilot reports the latest "Doctor Strange" movie casting rumor, stating that due to McAdams' status (having been a part of wildly successful movies like "The Notebook," "Mean Girls" and even Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris" and more recently in HBO's "True Detective"), it would make sense that the Canadian actress be cast in the MCU, following the previous trend - plus the fact that he looks like the title character's assistant Clea from the comic books.
According to Comic Book, the role McAdams is rumored to be in talks of for the "Doctor Strange" movie is a love interest for the character that eventually becomes his wife, a daughter of Umar and niece of Dormammu, coming from the Dark Dimension and having aided Dr. Stephen Strange many times in the past.
McAdams' reps have remained mum on the possibility.
In any case, the "Doctor Strange" movie will be the second one in Phase 3, after "Captain America: Civil War."
