Talk about a timely Throwback Thursday! Comedian Kel Mitchell of the "Kenan and Kel" stardom is making his way back to his roots by returning to the kids channel, Nickelodeon.
The comedian, who first got his big acting break on Nickelodeon's hit show, "Kenan and Kel," will be coming back to the network for the new show called "Game Shakers."
Entertainment Weekly confirmed the news that Kel would be working with Dan Schneider, the producer behind "iCarly" and the show "Victorious" - where Ariana Grande got her big break too.
Kel even talks about working with Schneider. "Dan and I go way back and have a history of great characters together on Nickelodeon. We understand each other's comedic styles and have so much fun on set playing around with different scenes and takes," Mitchell said.
"Game Shakers" revolves around the story of "two middle school girls who've created a mobile music app and are now starting up their own gaming company," as stated by Seventeen.
Kel Mitchell would be portraying the character of Double G - a rapper and music mogul. Double G is out to get the two girls named Babe (Cree Cicchino) and Kenzie (Madisyn Shipman) through a lawsuit that alleges they stole his music.
But given the comedian's history, the show isn't all about drama. In fact, Kel says, "I love playing such a wild character, because you will see some great physical comedy, but he also has heart."
Surely the former "All That" star is excited to be working with Nickelodeon again. "I fit in well with Nickelodeon - my name is even in the middle of the word Nic-Kel-odeon," Mitchell joked.
He adds, "It's great to be back on the network that gave me my first big television job. It was an awesome network then and is still an awesome network."
Tune in this September to catch Kel Mitchell on "Game Shakers." Watch his hilarious promotional video below, where he relives his most notable lines from Nickelodeon!
