Marissa Tomei may be the next Aunt May in Spiderman

She may be the youngest 'Aunt May' yet at 50 years old, but Marissa Tomei has been offered to play the role of the doting aunt in the next Spiderman movie, an exclusive report from Variety says.

The role was previously played by Rosemary Harris and then Sally Field.  Aunt May always had her hair, smattered with gray, up in a bun.  Tomei is bringing in a younger, more hippie twist, and is expected to be a perfect age-fit with a younger actor playing Peter Parker.

The new Spiderman is Tom Holland, 19 years old, an English actor who has starred in the stage musical, Billy Elliot.  His spidey role will make a cameo appearance in the movie, 'Captain America:  Civil War', out in May 2016.  Holland has been busy working out to get the abs fit for Spider Man, and busy posting his body pics in Instagram.

Meanwhile, Tomei's last movie credit is in the upcoming comedy 'Trainwreck", out this month.  She is currently filming 'The Big Short' , a movie adaptation of the book of the same title.  This drama stars Brad Pitt. It is expected to hit theatres next year.

Tomei has had various nominations and wins for her appearances in television, film and theatre.  The more significant one is her very first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 'My Cousin Vinny' in 1992.

Jon Watts takes over the helm as director.  His last film was 'Cop Car', released this year, starring Kevin Bacon as the small-town sheriff who goes out to look for the two young boys who have ran away from home, taking his black-and-white patrol car with them.

The Spiderman series have earned one of the biggest box office sales, with the five movies so far earning a total of $ 3.9 billion.  Spiderman 3 raked in the highest gross at $ 891 million, while the more recent one, the Amazing Spiderman 2 earned $ 709 million in 2014.
