It has been confirmed now that Elodie Yung is going to be playing this character in more than likely several episodes of the Netflix series, which gives the "GI Joe: Retaliation" star a chance to move on past what Jennifer Garner did with the role so many years ago. The show plans to depict her as a very mysterious woman with ties to Matt's past, but also someone capable of a great deal of destruction.
Clearly, Marvel is fine with making season 2 of this series as star-studded an affair as possible, given the recent casting of Jon Bernthal of "The Walking Dead" fame as the Punisher. These two characters give "Daredevil" quite the super-powered punch, and this was a show that already generated a great deal of positive buzz throughout its first season. There is no word as of yet as to who is definitely the "big bad" this time around.
The new season of the show is going to start streaming at some point early next year, and we could not be more excited to watch things unfold. It already appears that the show has a plan to really up the ante and make the new batch of episodes somehow even more thrilling and action-packed than the original. But with the casting of Yung in the pivotal role of Elektra, as well as Jon Bernthal in the role of the Punisher, they're really setting off on the right path here to bring in some more rave reviews.
Known as Elektra Natchios in the comics, she was both Matt Murdock's lover and enemy. Created by Frank Miller, the assassin first appeared in the Daredevil comics back in 1981 and has since been portrayed by Jennifer Garner in 2003's Daredevil movie, followed by the 2005 spinoff Elektra. With the success of the film, the series is sure to have a more frequent and increasing fan base especially with the added cast members this upcoming season.
