Fans of the hit show 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D' were shocked by the season two finale, when Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) caught a Terrigan crystal and ended up with a hand that quickly turned to stone. A quick-thinking Mack (Henry Simmons) immediately took an axe and chopped off the infected arm to save Coulson's life.
It might have been the end for Agent Coulson's arm, which was last seen in a sling. However, the new 'Agents of SHIELD' poster for the upcoming San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) is telling a different story.
[WARNING, SPOILERS AHEAD]
TV Insider has just revealed the new poster, which was illustrated by colorist Romulo Fajardo Jr. and artist Jimmy Cheung. The website reported that the poster will be available at the Marvel booth at SDCC, which will be at the San Diego Convention Center from July 8 to July 12.
Fans immediately noticed that the poster showed Agent Coulson with a strange-looking left limb, which most considered to be a robotic hand.
Gregg has previously addressed that something may be done about his character's severed hand. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor said, "They hinted that it's a real loss, but certainly in this world, with some of the friends we have at S.H.I.E.L.D., there may be some technology that makes the loss of that hand, at some point down the line, a little bit less painful."
But who will provide Agent Coulson with the artificial hand? Gregg joked, "I'm hoping that Deathlok will lend me one of his amazing hands if I ever need to fight anybody."
There are speculations that the robotic limb will be provided by a new ally or maybe even offer the possibility of an Avenger stepping in to help out. The answer will remain a mystery until someone asks about it when 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D' storms into SDCC this week.
