Raw milk is the breeding ground of salmonella, listeria, E.coli and TB, these bacteria can cause serious illness. Unpasteurized milk is one of the world's most dangerous stuff, according to the U.S. Centres For Disease Control.
Drinking raw milk can put people with weak immune system, including children at high risk.
England and Wales even banned selling raw milk to consumers. As well as Australia and around half the states in the U.S including Scotland after 12 people died from drinking raw milk. In Australia, a three year old Aussie kid also died after drinking unpasteurized milk. Raw milk is only sold for cleansing the skin which they call "bath milk."
According to the experts, unlike raw milk that is just bottled right away without any proper treatment, milk that are available in the supermarket are already pasteurized. The harmful bacteria are already removed through heating it accordingly without removing its flavor.
However, supporters of the raw milk believed that the study is wrong and exaggerated. Raw milk contains natural enzymes and bacteria that are essential to lactose intolerant people. These enzymes can be destroyed during the pasteurization process.
They also added that unpasteurized milk can strongly help in digestion since it has more vitamins and more good bacteria are concentrated. There are even claims that people with eczema, asthma and hay fever benefited from the raw milk.
But in 2013, a Belgian scientist found that drinking raw milk can contribute more risk than health advantages to people. The U.S. Centres For Disease Control said, 'There are no health benefits from drinking raw milk that cannot be obtained from drinking pasteurised milk that is free of disease-causing bacteria."
It was just last year, the Food Standard Agency released a warning to the parents about giving their children raw milk after five children were hospitalized with E.coli poisoning.
As of now, the pasteurized/unpasteurized milk controversy divides scientists and supporters.
