Anthony Davis Net Worth: Look out NBA, The Pelicans' $145M man is Draining Threes! [Video]

If you thought that New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis might start taking it easy after inking that long term deal then you've been mistaken. The 22 year old Davis, who just signed a max offer 5 year $145 million deal contract extension last Wednesday, just shared a YouTube clip of him swishing three point shots like fellow first team all NBA member Stephen Curry.

It should be noted that the 6 foot 11 inch Davis, who posted 24 points 10 rebounds and 3 blocked shots per game last year, had basically no three point shot last season shooting just 1 for 12 from beyond the arc. His historic season saw him post a Player Efficiency Rating (PER) of 30.89, one of the highest in NBA history.

The thought of the already absurdly talented Davis adding a long ball to his repertoire makes his new contract look like an absolute bargain at this point. The total value of the contract is the largest in NBA history and Davis' $29 million yearly average haul is also the most any player has every received, trumping LA Lakers' guard Kobe Bryant's current take of $25 million this season.

As unbelievable as Davis' staggering new deal is, it may not be the best in the NBA for long. Grantland's NBA Insider Zach Lowe notes that Davis' extension, which begins in the 2016-2017 NBA season, is based on the 2016 salary cap of $89 million. The NBA is set to sign a new TV rights deal in 2016, which could see the cap skyrocket into nine figure territory in the near future.

Some financially savvy players have foreseen this trend, and are structuring their deals to end just in time for the cap to rise. The most noteable example of course being the Cleveland Cavaliers' Lebron James, who is intent on signing shorter deals to take advantage of the constantly rising cap ceiling.
