A family with an ailing father was surprised by Arnold Schwarzenegger by giving them a touching letter. The Terminator franchise has been very important to this family specially to this 72-year-old father. As this Puerto Rican father and son have seen all of the Schwarzenegger's Terminator films,Terminator 2: Judgment Day being being special as this was the first movie the father and son saw together in theaters.
The father's health has been declining as he has been battling mental-health issues for years. It started to worsen when he started hearing voices, and became irritable and not acting like himself.
His father stopped wanting to watch movies as the Reddit user wrote, but in honor of his son's 30th birthday his father agreed to watch Terminator Genisy. It came as though it was a miracle as his father smiled for the first time in months.
In the Redditor's post, Schwarzenegger made a comment, "Wow. I'm in Korea on a whirlwind tour but you stopped me in my tracks," Schwarzenegger also wrote: "This is so touching. Thank you for sharing. I'd like to say "this is why I do this" but you should know it was you who made your father smile. It was your presence and caring. Happy birthday, you've got a lot of wisdom for 30 years."
The note of Arnold Schwarzenegger was responded by the Reddit user, that it made him cry and that his entire family was thrilled. And his father responded with, "thank you! You're a great actor, thank you very much!"
When the father and son went together at the Terminator Genisys movie, they were wearing Terminator glasses.
Arnold Schwarzenegger also wrote to the ailing father, "I hope you find real joy and strength in what a wonderful child you've brought into this world and raised."
The Reddit user stated, "That experience really sparked a love for film, the kind of passion that my dad had for them. From then on we saw a bunch of movies together along the years, including all the 'Terminator' movies until now, it was our franchise," he also wrote, "My dad loved Arnold's catchphrase 'I'll be back' and he would just rewind it every time. I have only my dad to thank for my love for movies, it's one of those things we always shared together."
