Find Out Why This Awkwardly Shaped Ice Cream Cone Is Actually Clever! [PHOTOS]

The Play J Ice Cream Truck that goes around New York City is only one of the few establishments that offer ice cream served in a J-shaped cone. While the cone can look highly phallic, the hook-shaped cone is stuffed with ice cream from end to end, and with good reason.

The shape minimizes drips, spills, and even the risk of losing a whole ice cream scoop - a common problem with children. Not only that, the cone gives the right amount of crunchy cone and ice cream ratio in every bite.

Play J's Twitter account aptly explains the beauty of this inventive treat. "We don't wanna just serve you an ice cream. We want you to enjoy, have fun, and experience something new."

Play J owners Chulho Kang and Rich Kion have patterned the ice cream cone after a famous dessert found in South Korea. To be more precise, the sweet treat is actually popular in the shopping district called Insadong.

Orzzzz claims that these cones resembling an umbrella handle first surfaced in 2013. It also prompted a food-vendor frenzy in the Philippines - hence the inception of Jipangyi Seoul Cane Ice Cream.

The cone is made using puffed corn with a hollow center all thoughout. It can be stuffed with either chocolate or vanilla ice cream. Play J prices the saxophone lookalike at $4, just around the price range of Mister Softee ice cream.

Although Play J wasn't the creative genius behind the beloved dessert, the ice cream truck might be partially responsible for its popularity in the United States.

Ice cream lovers won't have to fly all the way to New York City for it though. Corny Cones, a Honolulu-based a company, claims it is "The FIRST company to make and produce the now famous J Shaped Korean Ice Cream Cone, right here in Hawaii."

But it probably doesn't matter who first started the trend. The important thing to take note of is that ice cream lovers can now enjoy the treat without any spillage!
