There is no question that Tom Hiddleston is a talented actor. Although he has only appeared in three major films so far, Hiddleston is slowly turning into one of the most bankable movie stars of his generation.
The question is: Can he win an Academy Award?
According to Variety, Hiddleston's upcoming film, 'I Saw the Light' has just been given an official release date just in time for the Oscar Season. The biopic about iconic country star Hank Williams will be released on November 27, 2015.
Cinemablend has pointed out that musical biopics have always stormed the Academy Awards, citing examples like 'I Walk the Line' and 'Ray.' The website states that Hiddleston's transformation from elegant British actor into one of country music's favorite bad boys would seal the deal for an Oscar nod.
Hiddleston does his own singing in the film, and has been good enough to perform in the 2014 Wheatland Music Festival with Rodney Crowell.
The 'Thor: The Dark World' actor performed Hank Williams' hit 'Move on Over' and was well-received by the audience.
If his performance in 'I Saw the Light' will get him an Oscar, it will be Tom Hiddleston's first movie award. He has previously won awards for his performances in theater.
'I Saw the Light' is directed by Marc Abraham and also stars Elizabeth Olsen, Bradley Whitford and Maddie Hasson. It is based on the Hank Williams biography written by Colin Escott, George Merritt and William MacEwen.

Hiddleston will be busy in the next few years. A casting call for the upcoming Marvel film 'Avengers: Infinity War' has revealed that Tom Hiddleston will reprise his role as Loki in the movie.
'Avengers: Infinity War' will also star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Josh Brolin. It is scheduled for release on May 4, 2018.
