FLOTUS Went Camping With The Girl Scouts Outside The White House

Michelle Obama went camping with  girl scouts for the first time ever at the South Lawn of the White House on Tuesday. People Magazine reports the first lady of the United States, who was never a girl scout when she was young invited 50 girl scouts from Washington D.C., Oklahoma, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.

Through the help of the National Park Service, 23 tents were built on the outdoor lawn, with a huge rock climbing wall under the Truman Balcony.

"We are so excited to have you here ... This is the first time we've ever done a campout on the South Lawn of the White House. You are making history. Do you understand the impact, the importance of this moment, today?" FLOTUS said welcoming the girls.

"I don't know if I can officially earn a badge but I wanna try! I want to get going,"

"But you guys gotta help me!" The First Lady then joined the girls rock climbing the 25-foot wall. "I'm definitely not climbing that wall."

Mrs. Obama is currently the honorary national president of Girl Scouts USA, and an honorary co-chairwoman with former FLOTUS Laura Bush of the National Park Service centennial celebration.

The spokesperson of the First Lady told People that the Girl Scout Campout was Obama's idea herself. "This was something she wanted to do for a while."

The girls scouts were also excited when FLOTUS told them POTUS was inside the White House. "President Obama's really in there? Right now?" 10-year-old Aniyah Richardson from Baltimore asked her. "I wish I could tell him, 'You're the best!' " "Oh," she told Aniyah, "and 'Thank you!'

With a bunch of programs lined up for FLOTUS' fight for childhood obesity campaign, "Let's Move," Obama apparently loves the outdoors and launched "Let's Move Outside!"
