If you're a sneakerhead you might want to turn away right now.
Last weekend, Adidas unleashed their second highly anticipated sneaker made in collaboration with rapper and fashion designer Kanye West.
Dubbed the "Yeezy 350" Boost, the coveted shoe was quickly sold out in both physical and online retail locations across the globe. Fans camped out for days in the hopes of snagging a pair. The demand for the Yeezy's even brought Adidas sneaker reservation app 'Confirmed', which was especially developed for ultra-limited releases like this, to its knees.
Pairs of the hyped kicks are now being hawked by resellers on sites like Ebay and Grailed. One pair was listed at a staggering $10,000, a considerable amount more than the suggest $200 retail price.
Skateboard Magazine Jenkem were one of the select few who scored the shoes at face value, and they just released a video showing them put the shoe through the paces. The Yeezy boosts count Adidas' revolutionary boost foam and primeknit technology among its list of materials so it's safe to assume the shoe was made for more than just a Sunday stroll.
Well Jenkem just took it a step further than that. The video shows skater Piro Sierra using the Yeezy's on a no holds barred skate session through the streets of New York City. The shoes are spared no expense as they are dragged along the pavement, scuffed up on grip tape, and soaked in puddles.
Most Yeezy owners probably have their pair stocked safely in the back of their closest only to be worn on select occasions so the footage in this video might make them recoil in horror. However the video does make a point about the occasional absurdity that surrounds high end sneaker culture.
