Katy Perry is trying to win the right to ownership of a convent property against nuns from the Immaculate Heart of Mary congregation, according to reports.
The "Roar" singer, who recently encountered a clash against "Bad Blood" superstar Taylor Swift, is again fighting another battle to win the rights over a hilltop convent property that she allegedly struck a deal worth $14.5 million with Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez.
Archbishop Gomez first arranged the deal with the Perry and is convincing the sisters to give the property rights to the singer.
However, the nuns apparently have also sold and signed papers to turn over the land and villa-style building to a restaurateur for $15.5 million. The sale made by the sisters was made two weeks ago, Los Angeles Times reported.
The nuns are determined to win this legal fight against the 31-year-old pop star, as they still technically own the rights to the property. Sister Callanan proclaimed, "God help us, we are going to fight this!"
Another reasons why the nuns refused to give the land is that five of them are still residing in the area, two of whom are strongly claiming that the property is theirs. The whole congregation of 52 once lived in this plot of land at one point before the diocese distributed the sisters to other locations.
Prior to the dispute, Katy Perry even personally visisted the sisters to bid for the property and even sang out the gospel tune "Oh Happy Day." However, they were not impressed with Perry or moved by the song.
Sister Callanan said in her statement, "Our days have not been happy since then, I can assure you."
