14 Year Old Amy Winehouse Singing Happy Birthday To Her BFF

Even when she was a teeneger Amy Winehouse had a voice that could melt your heart.

A new clip from the forthcoming documentary on her tragic life has been released showing the late star when she was just 14-years-old singing 'Happy Birthday' to a close friend. The intimate video was talken from never-before-seen home movies. Director Asif Kapadia recently told Rolling Stone about the making the documentary, "What I learned was what a creative, intelligent, funny human being she was. I didn't know any of that. I don't know if anyone did." The Senna filmmaker added: "It's quite visceral. Through the tabloids, her life became a joke, and she was a sensitive soul. She wasn't confident enough to deal with these issues."

The film, Amy, is an in-depth and, at times a devastating, look at the singer's life, which was tragically cut short at age 27 on July 23, 2011 when she died of accidental alcohol poisoning.

She was not only a drug addict, but Winehouse also suffered from bulimia. "I honestly think 50 things killed her," Kapadia recently told me. "It's no simple thing. It's everything. It's her situation at home. It's her family, her relationships, it's her boyfriend, it's no self-esteem...not feeling enough love to love herself and to care about herself. Everything. "And then on top of that, you get too much money, too much success," he continued. "Nobody says no...Everything created a situation of this mess around her. Nobody stopped it. It went on and on and on. It got out of control. And when they did try to stop it, it was too late."

However, there are also moments that capture Winehouse in her prime. Kapadia revealed that the production team lucked into acquiring video of Winehouse in the studio during her "Back to Black" sessions. "We heard a rumor that someone was filming during the session, and we eventually found it," Kapadia said.
