Rihanna avoided a very awkward situation on Sunday by skipping the red carpet arrivals at the BET Awards in Los Angeles.
The 27-year-old was seen already in her seat inside the Microsoft Theater while her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown posed for photographs outside.

The former couple famously broke-up in 2009 after Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault following reports he had beaten the 'Diamonds' singer. They later rekindled their romance in 2012 but separated for good in 2013.
Brown's most recent ex Karrueche Tran had no problems about being seen arriving for the big event and be placed in an unfavorable situation. She happily posed solo for photographers.

The 27-year-old model recently issued a very public rebuke to Brown who has been trying unsuccessfully in winning her back.
Karrueche dumped the 'Turn Up The Music' singer earlier this year after it was revealed that he has fathered a child with another woman.
Tran explained in May that she tried to avoid the 26-year-old musician. "I make it so we don't have to cross paths so it's not awkward."
"But I do get on Instagram and there's people tagging us, or I'll hear a song or something... I kind of just have to block it out," she added.
Tran had nothing but nice things to say about her former romantic rival. "We just dated the same guy, and that's kind of what it is.It's always a competition thing and they compare us, but she is Rihanna."
"She's a pop star and she's beautiful and she makes great music, and I'm just me and I'm growing and working into myself. You can't compare us because we're two completely different girls," she said.
Rihanna and Brown may never be an item again but the 'Umbrella' hitmaker still seems to be a fan of his music. She was caught on camera during the show singing along as Brown performed on stage.
As Brown performed with Omarion, Rihanna was seen dancing in her seat and singing along.
