It seems like 'Hannibal' creator Bryan Fuller has had a strange month. Only a few days after his new series 'American Gods' was greenlighted for Starz, NBC announced that they are cancelling the series 'Hannibal.'
However, it looks like Fuller is moving on and focusing on the small screen adaptation of Neil Gaiman's 2001 novel. After all, he will be getting help from the best authority on all things 'American Gods.'
Fuller recently spoke to Collider about the development of his new show.
"We are cranking away. We have the first two scripts written already, and it's going to be very exciting," Fuller said.
The producer then revealed the name of the script writer.
"It's wonderful to be working with Neil Gaiman," Fuller announced. "Neil Gaiman's going to be writing episodes of the show, so it's gonna have scope, as it should."
Fuller also confirmed that his current priority is 'American Gods.' When asked what happens next for 'Hannibal,' he simply answered, "That's my next deal, 'American Gods.' After that, hopefully we'll see what happens in 'Hannibal.'"
The hit series has been cancelled only a few weeks after the premiere of its third season. Fuller was happy to discuss more about the events that take place in the upcoming episodes.
"The next four episodes are amongst the craziest, bonkers things that we've ever done on the show, so I'm excited for people to see it."
'Hannibal' was first aired in 2013. The show stars Mads Mikkelsen as the elegant cannibal Hannibal Lecter and Hugh Dancy as serial killer profiler Will Graham. The series is known for its dark imagery and disturbing content, which may have led to the show's cancellation on NBC.
