Michael C. Hall And David Bowie’s ‘Space Oddity’: Dexter Morgan Playing Ziggy Stardust In ‘Lazarus’ Musical!

The legendary artist behind classics like "Heroes" and "Space Oddity" is currently working on a stage musical based on one of his films, and it seems the production has found its leading man as Michael C. Hall's David Bowie, as the Golden Globe winner is reported to star.

Michael C. Hall's David Bowie collaboration is still unconfirmed, but reports say the "Dexter" actor will be starring in "Lazarus," a musical theater production based on the 1976 cult film "The Man Who Fell to Earth," the first film role the singer ever starred in.

According to Consequence of Sound, Michael C. Hall and David Bowie might see the "Six Feet Under" actor starring in the off-Broadway version, which is currently being written for the stage between Bowie himself and Enda Walsh, supposedly also writing a few new songs for the production.

NME reports that Michael C. Hall's David Bowie role would see him playing Thomas Newton, an alcoholic alien who comes to Earth in search for water and ends up pretending to be human, a role that has followed Bowie's career for almost four decades now.

The original 1976 film saw Bowie playing the lead character, based on a semi-autobiographical novel of the same name by Walter Tevis, first published in 1963.

According to NBC New York, Michael C. Hall's David Bowie role follows the actor's new trend into the theater, having recently co-starred in the Broadway revival of "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" as well as once playing Billy Flynn in Chicago - and after having played a serial killer for years in the small screen, there's no doubt that the actor can pull off the "eerie" look necessary to play a role made famous by Ziggy Stardust himself.

Michael C. Hall's David Bowie performance would begin on November 18 at the off-Broadway venue of the New York Theater Workshop, and the opening night is scheduled as December 7.
