James Taylor has finally landed the number 1 spot on the US album charts after spending nearly half of the century in the music industry, according to reports.
Taylor's seventeenth album "Before This World" which has been released in a row of three big-named young artists Adam Lambert, Hilary Duff and Nate Ruess, was able to sell out 97,000 copies during its first week.
After 45 years since Taylor's last chart-topping track 'Sweet Baby James' that was released back in March of 1970, frontlining the US album charts this 2015 is another milestone for the singer and for older generation musicians.
Following James Taylor's "Before This World", Taylor Swift's "1989" stopped at the second spot, Ed Sheeran's "X" places fourth, Adam Lambert's "Original High" is at no. 3 and Hilary Duff's "Breathe In Breathe Out" finished at no. 5.
On Twitter, Billboard sent the news about James Taylor, earning his first no. 1 album on the #Billboard200 chart. It reads, "After 45-year wait, James Taylor has earned his first No. 1 album on the #Billboard200 chart".

Though it is the first time that the 67-year old singer topped the US album chart after a couple of decades, Taylor's "You've Got A Friend" once scored as a number one single back in 1971, of which he shared the success of the album to the Grammy-award winning composer Carole King.
Apart from Taylor's success in the music industry, the singer-songwriter has also openly talked about his battle with drug and alcohol addiction. "Recovery is a huge part of my life," he said. "And it never ends. By that I mean that you're never totally cured. And you have to practice recovery, and keep it green."
James Taylor, after being asked about Swift's letter on Tumblr, responded: "Hats off to her."
He went on, saying "As a professional musician and songwriter, I'm really grateful to Taylor Swift for making a stand. I think that, generally speaking, if anyone is making money off of an artist's music, then the artist should participate, and their share should be the lion's share. It's reassuring to see someone like Taylor Swift step up to the plate."
