Emma Watson Tom Hanks: ‘The Circle’ Adaptation Starring Hermione Granger And Forrest Gump!

The first fictional work written by Dave Eggers, "The Circle," is now officially getting adapted to the big screen, and the production company behind the movie version isn't holding back in terms of casting, as Emma Watson and Tom Hanks are now officially confirmed to star in the project!

The film that will see Emma Watson and Tom Hanks star in their first movie together will see the "Harry Potter" actress playing the role of a young woman who starts working for a tech giant of the likes of Google when things take a vicious turn towards conspiracy theory territory.

According to The Verge, it was director James Ponsoldt who confirmed Emma Watson and Tom Hanks' appearance in the film, saying that the actress, who is set to play Belle in an upcoming live-action adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast," is one of his favorite performers who will bring an "electric energy" to the project, which won't start shooting for a few more months.

Besides directing Emma Watson and Tom Hanks in the movie, Ponsoldt was also the one that penned the screenplay for the adaptation, according to The Wrap, so it's fair to say he's quite invested in the production.

Deadline reports that before Emma Watson and Tom Hanks were confirmed to star, rumors said that "Ex Machina" actress Alicia Vikander would be the one taking the role, but ultimately the director chose a much bigger name.

Hanks won't only be co-starring as a mysterious older man who introduces the film's darker themes, but he'll also take the role of producer with his company with Gary Goetzman, Playtone; other producers will include Likely Story Productions as well as Ponsoldt himself, Laurie Macdonald and Walter Parkes.

Production for the film will begin next September, once Watson has wrapped filming her Disney Princess project.

There's still no official release date for the Emma Watson and Tom Hanks film.
