DC Update: Will Ben Affleck Direct 'The Batman' Solo Film? Who Will Be The Two Green Lanterns?

The DC superhero film 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is still a long way from its release date, yet DC already has several other movies lined up after its premiere.

In addition to 'Suicide Squad,' 'The Flash' and 'Aquaman,' Batman will be getting a new movie and 'Justice League' will feature two new characters.

Latino-Review has just reported that Bruce Wayne's solo film will be moving forward, and it looks like Ben Affleck will be starring and directing 'The Batman.' The actor/director will be working with screenwriter Chris Terrio, who had previously written the screenplay for 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.'

Fans seem to be eager to see Affleck helm the Caped Crusader's new reboot. After all, the 'Gone Girl' star had previously worked on 'The Town' and 'Argo,' both of which received rave reviews.

'The Batman,' which is the reboot's working title of the moment, is now scheduled for release in November 2018. This means that Batman will be going head to head with Marvel's 'Captain Marvel,' which is currently searching for a star and director.

Latino-Review also reported on a possible assembly of the Justice League at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con. The line-up will feature Batman (Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and two different Green Lanterns.

Rumor has it that Hal Jordan, who was previously played by Ryan Reynolds, will be portrayed by Chris Pine. The 'Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit' actor was previously reported to be cast as Wonder Woman's love interest, but Warner Bros. has found a different role for him in Justice League.

The second Green Lantern will be John Stewart, who is best known as the black Lantern who appears in the animated Justice League TV series. There are speculations that John Stewart will be played by Tyrese Gibson, who has just scored a hit with 'Furious 7.'

'Justice League Part I' is scheduled for release in 2017.
