For well over two decades, Marge Simpson and Homer Simpson have been the longest-running couple in television history, with a completely dysfunctional marriage that ends up working in the end just the same, but recent rumors have said they're about to split forever.
In a hilarious move, last weekend Fox released a video of Marge Simpson and Homer Simpson giving a "statement" to clarify rumors about their relationship, after news outlets around the world went crazy with rumors about the most rock-solid couple in Springfield, USA, splitting up during the show's upcoming 27th season.
According to CNET, the video featuring Marge Simpson and Homer Simpson discussing the status of their marriage first appeared last Friday on the YouTube channel of Fox Network's Animation Domination, and it features the beloved cartoon character breaking their silence about recent reports, saying that their marriage was "solid as a rock."
It says a lot that a cartoon - and therefore quite fictional - couple such as Marge Simpson and Homer Simpson would have to turn to making an official statement about their relationship; after all, after having been together for 26 years, it's perfectly understandable that they have a loyal fanbase!
In the sweet and hilarious video, the beloved yellow couple from Springfield spoke that the rumors began when CNN said they'd be splitting up and, according to Metro, were then followed by "the real news," taking a very obvious jab at the outlet.
As Digital Spy reports, this is actually the second time one of the show's characters speak about the Marge Simpson and Homer Simpson rumors, as a few weeks ago oldest son Bart took to the series' official Twitter page to recreate the longtime chalkboard gag, writing "Homer and Marge are not breaking up."
