Serendipity 3 is known around the world for its unique take on typical American food. Found in New York City's Upper East Side, the restaurant is known for their pricey yet delectable gold-covered dishes.
Now, the landmark restaurant is boasting a new item on their menu. Called the "Quintessential Grilled Cheese," the sandwich is the world's most expensive grilled cheese to date.

The sandwich is so special that customers will need to order it two days prior, just so the chef can make sure that the grilled cheese is to its best.
The sandwich consists of lobster, truffle oil, and champagne. To top it all off, the edges are adorned with 24-carat gold.
Chef Joe Calderoni talked to The Daily Mail about the origins of the sandwich. "We came up with grilled cheese because that's the ultimate in comfort food. What better way to celebrate that sandwich than with the quintessential version of that sandwich?"

"The bread is baked with Dom Perignon champagne, some white truffle oil with the gold. Then our grass-fed butter infused with white truffles. Then we take caciocavallo cheese - it's very rare," Caledroni added.
To no surprise, Serendipity 3 garnered a World Record for the Most Expensive Sandwich in the World for the "Quintessential Grilled Cheese."
Serendipity 3's menu includes the $69 "haute dog," a foot-long frankfurter with black truffles and foie gras enclosed in a white truffle butter filled pretzel roll.

The menu also features the $295 cheeseburger made from "Japanese Wagyu beef infused with a 10-herb white truffle butter, Salish Alderwood smoked Pacific sea salt, and topped with Cheddar cheese - hand-formed by the famous cheesemaker James Montgomery in Somerset, England, and cave-aged for 18 months - shaved black truffles, a fried quail egg, and served on a white truffle-buttered Campagna Roll," as described by the press release.
As if that wasn't enough, Serendipity 3 also takes pride in its $1,000 gold sundae. The concoction involves a "Tahitian vanilla ice cream, Amedei chocolate sauce, candied fruit from Paris, passionfruit caviar, a gold-dusted sugar flower, and some 22-carat gold, all piled onto a $300 Baccarat crystal goblet for keeps."
