Having a career spanning well over five decades, the "Alien" actor has been nominated for two Academy Awards and was recently knighted as a lord by Queen Elizabeth, and now, in an amazing display of bravery, the 75 year-old shows that John Hurt's cancer isn't about to stop him for working.
One of the most iconic English actors for the past few decades after having starred in a few quintessentially British projects in pop culture, from being the lead in the George Orwell adaptation "1984" to even having parts in the "Harry Potter" franchise and "V for Vendetta," John Hurt's cancer won't be slowing him down.
According to The Daily Mail, the actor recently announced John Hurt's cancer diagnosis through a statement to the press, saying that he had pancreatic cancer and wanted to share his experience with fans, being sure he'd be able to pull through.
The Huffington Post reports that the actor clarified that John Hurt's cancer wouldn't halt him from working, as he'd continue acting throughout his treatment, confident he'd be pulling it through - and his IMDb page shows that he currently has eight projects in development, including playing Don Quixote in an upcoming Terry Gilliam film as well as a new adaptation of Tarzan co-starring Margot Robbie, Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz.
"I have always been open about the way in which I conduct my life and in that spirit I would like to make a statement," went John Hurt's cancer announcement to Press Association, according to The Independent. "I have recently been diagnosed with early stage pancreatic cancer. I am undergoing treatment and am more than optimistic about a satisfactory outcome, as indeed is the medical team. I am continuing to focus on my professional commitments and will shortly be recording Jeffrey Bernard Is Unwell (one of life's small ironies!) for BBC Radio 4."
In spite of John Hurt's cancer, the actor is even taking his condition with good spirits, a truly amazing man!
