Breaking News: FBI Is Investigating The Cardinals For Hacking The Astros Database

St. Louis Cardinals front office officials are under investigation by the FBI and Justice Department for allegedly hacking the internal network of the Houston Astros to steal all of the information about the players, as the New York Times reported.

"Law enforcement officials believe the hacking was executed by vengeful front-office employees for the Cardinals hoping to wreak havoc on the work of Jeff Luhnow, the Astros' general manager who had been a successful and a polarizing executive with the Cardinals until 2011."

The St. Louis Cardinals released in a statement that they know about the ongoing investigation and the team has cooperated and will willingly so. According to them it is not in the best of interest to comment any further on the details of the ongoing investigation.

The objective of the investigation is to evaluate what transpired and what infractions were made and come up with the proper decision upon it's completion.

Astros is also cooperating for the progress of the investigation and decided not to comment on the subject.

Names of the executives from the Cardinals, who are under investigation are not being released yet by the FBI. But they released a statement saying, "The FBI aggressively investigates all potential threats to public and private sector systems." They also added that once they complete the investigation, "we pursue all appropriate avenues to hold accountable those who pose a threat in cyberspace," the ESPN claimed.

It was June 2014 when the Astros started closely working with the FBI to identify the hacker, after claiming that Astros database have been illegally breached and their statistics have been published on the Internet.
