MAC Cosmetics has always been a frontrunner in the beauty industry, especially when it comes to bold lipsticks. Italian fashion designer Giambattista Valli has just collaborated with the makeup brand for a new line of lipsticks.
With five new matte shades, the new range boasts colors from pink to aubergine. The collection also include a high-gloss product accompanied with the matte lippy line to amp up the shades when necessary.
"The biggest revolution you can do on your style is really changing the color of your lips. You can be today like this, tonight different, tomorrow morning another thing then after lunch another one," Valli stated.
Pop Sugar reports that the inspiration for the new shades came from "fabric swatches in the Giambattista Valli fashion vault." The fashion designer intended to create the line that would reflect his design style - floral tones and head-turning textures.
Giambattista explains why he chose matte textures for the line, "The texture is matte because it really gives you something graphic and modern. It's good for the daytime, but for the party you're going to wear glossy."
He added, "It's like the cocktail dress, you can wear it with flats during the day to the office and then you can change the shoes like you can do with the glossy, do it more fun."
MAC Cosmetics has also done something out of the ordinary for this new collection. Updating its packaging, each lipstick has its own metallic shade of packaging to reflect the color of the lipstick bullet.
Valli further explained his vision for the collection. "I'm somebody that loves practical things for women, beautiful, but at the same time practical. I think it's much more comfortable to check in your bag and look right away at the colors."
"You carry two or three of them in your bag and right away you grab the one you need," Giambattista continued.
The new collection is definitely going to be a collector's item, and MAC lovers can hit the stores to grab the Giambattista Valli collection on July 9 until August 6.
