After the wide success of the second installment of the musical about a cappella female singing troupe Barden Bellas, it's not surprising to hear that the film will become a trilogy, with a third installment scheduled for 2017 - and the first "Pitch Perfect 3" cast news are here!
It's been officially announced that two of the films' biggest stars, Oscar nominee Anna Kendrick and recently controversial Australian actress Rebel Wilson, will officially be a part of the "Pitch Perfect 3" cast, reprising their roles as Beca and Fat Amy, respectively, as the singing troupe meets for a third round.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, it's still unclear whether Elizabeth Banks will be joining the "Pitch Perfect 3" cast as of yet, and less so whether she'll reprise the much more important role she had in the last installment: directing.
While she may or may not be part of the "Pitch Perfect 3" cast (her role was much smaller in the sequel, perhaps due to conflicting schedules with "Hunger Games") Banks will definitely be involved in the film, producing it alongside Max Handelman.
As Food World News reported a few days back, producing company Gold Circle Films is currently in talks with screenwriter Kay Cannon, who wrote the first two films, to give the Bellas a third shot - and there's at least two of the most important characters returning to the "Pitch Perfect 3" cast.
According to The Independent, Kendrick was apparently not too convinced about returning for a third time around, but she has recently announced via Instagram that she'll definitely be a part of the new film.
International Business Times has made a list of things that the third installment of the film should focus on, including newcomer Hailee Steinfeld and how the new film should focus on more realistic characters of other ethnicities, something the previous movies have been widely criticized for.
In the next few weeks, there will surely be more information about the "Pitch Perfect 3" cast!
