A bacon alarm clock could either be the best idea in the world or the worst one, as it would entail waking up to the smell of cooked bacon every day of the week, which is in part a lovely way to get up but could also mean some strong craving in the morning.
SensorWake, the bacon alarm clock, was recently launched as a Kickstarter campaign by French young inventor Guillaume Rolland, who is convinced it's much more pleasant to wake up with smells than it is to do so with sounds, particularly considering how annoying some alarms can be.

The idea of a bacon alarm clock, or at least something similar, has been going around for a while, as different companies including Oscar Mayer, which last year released a device that, when paired with an iPhone, could actually give your alarm the delicious smell of bacon every morning.
According to The Huffington Post, though, the so-called bacon alarm clock is something of a misnomer, as it's not the only smell the SensorWake project is proposing: there's also the possibility of waking up to the smells of sweet peach, espresso, ginger, strawberry candy, peppermint, hot croissants, orange juice and even money for the Wall Street types.
GizMag reports that the bacon alarm clock's fragrances come in capsules, and they were developed by Swiss fragrance manufacturer Givaudan, set to last for 60 uses - which is to say, two months of waking up to your favorite aroma.
The way it works, according to CNET, is this: after having scheduled the time you need to wake up at, your chosen scent will begin to float around the air, and Rolland claims users will be up after 2 minutes about 99 percent of the time, a figure he gets after trying the product in over 100 people in a nursing home.
The bacon alarm clock project's original goal was €50,000 (approximately $56,200), but as the invention has gone viral it has already made its goal a few times over, collecting €127,764 ($143,728) - watch how it works below!
