Benedict Cumberbatch Wife Sophie Hunter Gives Birth – ‘Sherlock’ Cumberbaby Born Right Before Father’s Day!

The famously private British superstar, who was recently nominated for his first Academy Award for his role as real-life computing pioneer Alan Turing in "The Imitation Game," has made all kinds of news regarding his personal life in the past few months, and now the actor and Benedict Cumberbatch's wife Sophie Hunter celebrate becoming parents!

According to The Mary Sue, the couple has recently announced through their spokespeople that Benedict Cumberbatch's wife Sophie recently gave birth to the couple's first child, a baby boy, though they're still not ready to announce the name to the general public.

The Independent reports that Benedict Cumberbatch's wife gave birth last weekend, specifically on Saturday, though the details of the birth - such as the hospital - are unspecified as of yet, as the couple's country of origin, the United Kingdom, celebrated the belated birthday of its Queen.

The first announcement that Benedict Cumberbatch's wife (then fiancé) was pregnant came in the late months of 2014, as fans of the British heartthrob and Emmy Award winner became disappointed and enchanted at the same time, dubbing the child "Cumberbaby" in reference to his odd-sounding name.

The date where Benedict Cumberbatch's wife gave birth to seems particularly appropriate: it was barely a few days before Father's Day, his very first time celebrating it as a dad!

Ahead of this day, MTV has posted a list of gifts the actor needs on this occasion, including "a new nickname" and a trampoline to photobomb his baby song's photos.

Cumberbatch and Hunter met in 2009 on the set of "Burlesque Fairytales," though it wasn't until much later that they became a couple.

Cumberbatch rose to fame with his portrayal of the iconic sir Arthur Conan Doyle detective in BBC's modern take, "Sherlock," co-starring Martin Freeman; over time, he has continued to appear in a number of projects, including "Star Trek" and voicing Smaug and Sauron in "The Hobbit" trilogy - not to mention his upcoming role as a Marvel superhero in "Doctor Strange."

Congratulations to Benedict Cumberbatch and wife Sophie Hunter!
