Bill Cosby Scandal: Comedian Delays Unsealing Docs In Defamation Case, Asks Supreme Court To Dismiss Bill Cosby Rape Charges

For months on end, the Bill Cosby scandal has shattered the name of the iconic comedian, after dozens of women have come forward to tell their stories about how he sexually abused them in some way or another, in some cases going back to decades.

According to The Wrap, the Bill Cosby scandal is back in the news once more, as the "Cosby Show" leading man caught a legal break for the first time in months, winning a bid to block the unsealing of a previous sexual assault case that was settled out of court.

Newsday reports that three of the women currently accusing the comedian of sexual assault filed a subpoena for a previous sexual assault case to be reopened, as they believed it could be ultimately used during their own bid in the midst of the Bill Cosby scandal, but a court recently ruled in favor of the comedian, delaying the opening of the previous case.

In fact, the three Massachusetts women are pursuing action over defamation, saying that during the Bill Cosby scandal, his lawyers defamed their characters by denying their rape claims from cases in the 1970s.

According to Los Angeles Times, that's not the only news in the Bill Cosby scandal, as the "Uptown Saturday Night," though his lawyers, is asking the California Supreme Court to dismiss a lawsuit made by a state resident, Judy Huth, who claims the 77 year-old actor molested her when she was 15 during a Playboy Mansion event in 1974.

The Bill Cosby scandal started out when a Hannibal Buress stand-up act went viral, when he pointed out that the comedian had been accused of rape multiple times and each one it had been settled out of court, with the information never going entirely public - and this ultimately raised more and more questions about Cosby's character, as dozens of women told similar stories.
