Success Stories: Winners and Nominees Of The 2015 CMT Awards

While there are several awards shows for country music in the US, the 2015 Country Music Television Music Awards - or CMT Music Awards - set the bar high this year. Take a look at this year's nominees and winners.

One of the top awards given at any music awards show is the Video of the Year. This year's nominees included Dierks Bentley for "Drunk on a Plane," Florida Georgia Line for "Dirt," Jason Aldean for "Burnin' It Down," Luke Bryan for "Play It Again," and Miranda Lambert with Carrie Underwood for "Somethin' Bad." Carrie Underwood triumphed with her music video for "Something in the Water."

There was also an award for Male Video of the Year. Luke Bryan took home the award for "Play It Again." The singer won against Dierks Bentley for "Drunk on a Plane," Eric Church for "Talladega." Jason Aldean for "Burnin' It Down," Kenny Chesney for "American Kids," and "American Idol" judge Keith Urban for "Somewhere in My Car."

As for Female Video of the Year, Carrie Underwood was nominated for two music videos - "Little Toy Guns" and "Something in the Water." She was alongside Lee Ann Womack for "The Way I'm Livin'," Miranda Lambert for "Little Red Wagon," RaeLynn for "God Made Girls," and Reba for "Going Out Like That." However, Carrie Underwood triumphed once again for "Something in the Water."

Group Video of the Year nominees were A Thousand Horses for "Smoke," Eli Young Band for "Dust," Little Big Town for "Day Drinking," The Band Perry for "Chainsaw," and Zac Brown Band for "All Alright." Lady Antebellum was the winner of the award for "Bartender."

Twosomes were also given their own category for an award. Big & Rich for "Look at You," Brothers Osborne for "Rum," Florida Georgia Line for "Sun Daze," Maddie & Tae for "Girl in a Country Song," and The Swon Brothers for "Later On" were among the many nominees for Duo Video of the Year. Flordida Georgia Line prevailed with the award for "Dirt."

The CMT Music Awards also had a category for Collaborative Video of the Year. "The Voice" judge Blake Shelton featuring Ashley Monroe were nominated for "Lonely Night," along with Brantley Gilbert featuring Justin Moore and Thomas Rhett for "Small Town Throwdown," Jennifer Nettles featuring Brandy Clark for "His Hands," Kenny Chesney with Grace Potter for "Wild Child" and Tim McGraw featuring Faith Hill for "Meanwhile Back at Mamas." Miranda Lambert with Carrie Underwood was given the award for "Somethin' Bad."

Because the event is by CMT, it's no surprise that the category CMT Performance of the Year exists. Performances like Brett Eldredge's "Beat of the Music" from CMT's Ultimate Kickoff Party, John Legend and Lee Ann Womack's "You & I (Nobody in the World)" from CMT Crossroads, Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves' rendition of "Roar" from CMT Crossroads, and Keith Urban's "It's a Man's, Man's, Man's World" from the 2014 CMT Artists of the Year were among the nominees for the category.

Kenny Chesney's "American Kids" performance from Instant Jam, Lady Antebellum and Aloe Blacc's "Wake Me Up" from CMT's Ultimate Kickoff Party, and Lady Antebellum and Chris Stapleton's "Drink a Beer" performance from the 2014 CMT Artists of the Year were also nominated. But in the end, Bob Seger and Jason Aldean won the award for their CMT Crossroads performance of "Turn the Page."

Sam Hunt won Breakthrough Video of the Year for "Leave the Night On" against Chase Rice for "Gonna Wanna Tonight," Frankie Ballard for "Sunshine & Whiskey," Kelsea Ballerini for "Love Me Like You Mean It," Maddie & Tae for "Girl in a Country Song" and RaeLynn for "God Made Girls.
