Nintendo Wii U Release Date, In Stores Starting in November

Nintendo has just announced the long awaited successor to its popular video game console the Nintendo Wii. The next-generation gaming console from Nintendo will be called the Wii U and release dates have already been confirmed for at least three different markets.

US gamers will be able to get their hands on the new console starting November 18, while the release date for Europe is set for November 30. In Japan, shoppers will be able to purchase the console just in time for the holiday season from December 8.

Initially, two different versions will be offered, one called the Wii U BASIC which will be sold at $299.99, and which comes in white and with 8 GB on-board memory. The second version is the black Wii U DELUXE, which comes with a starting price of $349.99 and instead has 32 GB built-in memory and a few extras, such as a GamePad cradle, GamePad stand, and console stand.

The Nintendo Wii U comes with a unique hand-held controller that carries the buttons and analog sticks regularly seen on video game controllers, but it also sports a large touchscreen that enables the user to interact with the device in a completely different way.

Nintendo hopes the device will in effect replace your old TV remote, offering functions ranging from streaming and recording your favorite movies, TV shows, and sports broadcasts. The Wii U can also be carry out tasks such as browsing the web, show DVDs, and more.

Among new game titles set for the release date, are games such as Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros. U, ZombiU, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge, Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2, and a few others.

According to reports, the DELUXE version of the console has already sold out at US retailers such as BestBuy.com and GameStop
