Georgia Page, a female rugby player from Australia has become an overnight internet sensation by grabbing the attention of fans by playing Rugby while having a broken nose. Page, who plays rugby for Lindenwood University in Missouri, is now know as the "Rugby War Goddess" after their game against Notre Dame College.
"I remember falling down and thinking, oh my God, my nose is on the other side of my face" said Page. She broke her nose when she tackled two oppossing players, and still continued to play even when her nose was bleeding and broken. Her new found popularity has made her happy because not many sports media are able to show female rugby games. She hopes that her trending game can promote women's rugby and hopefully increase the number of people who are interested in watching the sport.
Page wants women to know that even girls can be tough and can play rugby like other men can. She hopes to inspire other female Rugby players and every woman all over the world to toughen up.
Even after her injury, Georgia Page will resume her training after a few weeks of rest. Georgia's video is already viral and has more than 200,000 views on Youtube, and more the one million views on Facebook, sending the social media into a frenzy.
She was on a plane for 17 hours when she saw the video and said, "I really didn't think too much of it execpt that it was cool that some of the women's stuff was finally getting some coverage, especially all my blood. BBC has already begun broadcasting of the FIFA Womens Cup in Canada, which has increased womens exposure in the world of sports. The Rugby World Cup kicks off in September. "I'm always cheering for the Wallbies" said Page.
