Chipotle Employees Get Paid Tuition And Vacations

If there's an ongoing influx of Chiptole employee applicants, then the company shouldn't really be surprised. Employees from the Denver-based Mexican Grill chain would be ecstatic to know that tuition, sick pay and vacation leaves are now going to be shouldered by the company.

Previously, Chipotle already offered to pay for tuition, sick pay and vacation for their salaried employees. However, hourly employees can also expect to receive the same benefits starting July 1.

Representatives for Chipotle, JD Cummings and William Epsey, announced the news in Dallas, Texas at the Summer Brand Camp marketing and human resources conference.

"We just made an announcement internally that we are now going to be offering sick pay and paid vacation time for all employees at all levels of the company, including all entry-level employees and we're going to be offering the full-tuition reimbursement that we offer salaried employees to all hourly employees," said Cummings.

According to Food Beast, the decision is aimed to help the burrito-chain recruit more high school and college students as the company continues to greatly invest and hopefully keep their employees around.

Cummings continued, "It's an incredible statement by our leadership about how much we want to invest in the best people we have and to keep them with us."

"We have a lot of folks who, if they realize they could make a career with Chipotle, would stick with us while they are in college and take advantage of our tuition-reimbursement program. They could find the path to restaurateur is an amazing path that they might not have thought of," Cummings added.

Espey also noted that employees can expect a bright future with minimal turnovers at Chipotle. "Our platform is built around opportunity. We open a new restaurant every two days. Last year, we promoted 10,000 employees at the restaurant level into management positions," Eater reports.
